Below is a True Story That Took Place in the Early 1990s:

A woman who works as an interpreter at a historic farm (museum) is the last to leave the property after the facility has closed to the public for the day. She moves about the grounds, checking each of the buildings to ensure that no visitors have stayed behind. When she comes to the last building, a reconstructed 1890s home, she opens the front door and moves from room to room, quickly surveying each one.

As she enters the last room, a small bedroom with pretty yellow wallpaper, she notices the closet door is standing open. The woman crosses the room and as she approaches the closet, she sees someone, a young man dressed in a blue suit, standing inside.

Thinking the man is a lingering member of the public, the woman touches him on the sleeve and says, "Sir, the museum is closed. You will have to leave." As she does so, the young man slowly turns to look at her. The woman, expecting to see a stranger, gasps and realizes that she has seen this man before. Her eyes move from the man to the picture on the wall next to the closet. In it, the young man, dressed in the same blue suit, stands smiling with his wife and three young children. The date engraved on the wooden frame's small brass plaque says 1897. The woman, the hair slowly rising on her neck, looks back at the man. He smiles, exits the closet and quietly moves past her. As he does so, he turns to look at the woman, nods his head, walks through the bedroom door and then is gone.
